I bought a whole case of these shells this year, and after shooting 2 boxes, I went and bought a case of different shells. The hull was separating from the brass, and the hull casing was getting lodged about 3 inches up in my barrell. And luckily the brass got lodged in my action so my gun couldn't load another round. This happened 5 times. I refused to shoot anymore of them and let my friends shootem when they ran out of shells. They did the same thing to them in pump shotguns. Their guns wouldn't even pump when this happened. Anybody ever had this to happen to them with any other shells, so I will know not to but them eiether. A guide told me that Fiochhi shells did this to him last season. |

I shoot winchester xpert for waterfowl. I reload AA hulls for everything else. I have never had any problem with these. |

Wow Talk about unsafe. Defiantly warrants a letter to the manufacturer with lot number... I'd be asking for my money back. Years ago I shot estate target loads and never had a problem. Rarely, I have see a segment or two of the crimp leave the shell, but never the separation you describe |

I will try to post a picture if I can figure out how. I plan on doing what Bill mentioned, and sending a letter with the shells that messed up. Hopefully they can explain what caused this. I don't really expect to get my money back, maybe they will send me another case. |

Well I wrote the company a letter and sent the shells that messed up on me. They sent me a letter back, and told me they were sorry. They asked me to pack the 5 boxes that I had left, and sit them outside for ups to come and pick up. They said they would send me 7 boxes back as soon as possible. To my surprise, I didn't know that Federal made these shells. I doubt I buy anymore ESTATE shells, but I will not quit shooting other brands of Federal. IMO they have some pretty good loads out there. |

I hate to bring up old news but I think this is worth bringing up. Federal has not sent my replacement shells back yet!! I can't get anyone to answer a phone call. I keep getting a recording to leave a message. I have wrote them another letter, and they wrote me back and told me it could be months before I got my shells back. But I would get them. It has been over six months now. I have been pretty calm about the whole sitiuation, but duck season will be here in no time. I'm starting to get a little pissed about it. I have actually ordered a case of Federal 3.5 premium shells for this season cause they are great loads. I just don't understand why it's taking so long for them to send me back the shells they owe me. What would you do? |
