Opening morning of MD turkey season(4-18-2012) I was setup on the corner of a field by 5:30.
Around 5:45 I had a bird gobbling about 200 yrds up the filed from me.
I answerd him with a few clucks and he would hammer back every time.
My view of the field was partially blocked due to a big brush pile, of course in the direction he was coming from but I could tell he was closing in. A little after 6 he shut up and I thought he may have wandered off.
I hit the slate again and he gobbled only 15 yrds away!!!!! behind said brush , startling me a bit!!!!
He cleared the brush in full strut giving me no shot, then he spied my jake and approched it looking to kick some tail.
I had to turn to my right to find him in my scope and dropped him with a 20 yrd shot, at 6:15 I had my first MD turkey and my first with the crossbow.

I'm not sure what he weighs, but he has a thick 10" beard and 1" spurs.

CONGRATS on a very good burd!
What is a "scope" for turkl hunting?? I got a bud whose eyes are bad that uses a red dot, I have to use one on all rifles because of my eyes....but I never used a "scope" for turkl burds and still don't....would a "scope" help my per cent kill on waterfowl?

I don't use a "scope" on my turkey gun , the crossbow is setup with a "scope" for Whitetails and sika.

I'm not gunna take it off just to hunt turkeys.

Oh never mind I just reread my post LOL.
