Anyone here reloading for the 6.8 spc. I recently built a rifle and am looking for a good hunting load. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My most accurate load so far is 28.0grs of H335 in a Remington Case with a Winchester LR primer and a Hornady 110gr V-Max bullet.

I shoot a T/C Contender G2 Rifle with a 23" Barrel. my chrony showed it going 2565 fps.

I have also had good results with 23.0grs of AA1680 and a Hornady 100gr Spire Point.

Since I don't have to worry about magazine restrictions I'm just starting to play with a Hornady 130gr SST bullet and AA2230. the speed is down to 2285fps with this combination as 23.0grs of AA1680 is around 2387fps and the same bullet.

My friend reloads for me so I asked him, I shoot an M77 Hawkeye compact with a 16" barrel. The best results I have are using either hornady 110 gr bthp factory ammo or his reloads that used the hornady brass and 110 gr bullets with I think was 23.5 grs aa1680. Using these 2 loads I have had 100 yard groups of 3 shots touching each other ( shooting from a lead sled ). I have not chrono'ed any of the rounds. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. I've heard good things about the 110 HPBT from Hornady. I guess that is the reg C.O.L. you both are using from the Hornady reload manual?

What rifle did you build?

I built a 6.8 Ar type hunting rifle. Used a 18in 6.8 ar performance barrel and match grade components. Can't wait to see how she shoots! Just gotta find the right optic to put on it and I'll be ready

A nice 3-9x40 scope should do you well, that is what have on my barrel at the moment.

I did have a 6-18x50 on it for a short time which made load development checking really easy at 100yds.

Did you get the Spec II chamber in your AR? mine is still the original chamber.

I registered at 68 forums awhile back. Superhelpful. I used the 6.8 arp clambering from ar performance. I put a Weaver 4x16 on it right now, we'll see if it stays. Just gotta get some loads worked up and wait for my mags to finally come in. Looks like it ships tomorrow
