I'm trying to find loading Data for the 44 magnum Hornady 225 gr. FTX bullet. I have looked every where for data. Is it no availible. I have the bullets to load but now no data. Any information would be helpful.

The .44 magnum is a good cartridge. I have used it for many, many years and have shot competition with it and hunted as well. I have a Ruger Super Blackhawk with a 7.5 inch Barrel. If you are looking for a load to use with a particular bullet, go to the bullet companies web site, OR use data for THAT WEIGHT bullet from another site or manufacturer.

One thing I have found out from years of shooting this cartridge is this: It is a non-finicky cartridge. Bullet weight is about all there is in difference between a JHP, JSP, FMJ, or cast lead bullet. With cast lead, you need to worry about the alloy of the bullet and the muzzle velocity as to prevent bore leading. Jacketed bullets, such as the one you have, are fairly easy to load and shoot as they are basically the same thing within the parameters of the bore diameter, weight and composition. About the biggest problem there could be is in the length of the contact area on the bullet that engages the rifling. Primers make a difference with the .44 REM MAG too. I use CCI 350 MAGNUM primers exclusively. These have given my the most consistent results over the years. I use WW 296 powder as well.

There are a lot of loads available for the .44 Remington Magnum, and are not hard to find. I have used Sierra, Speer, Nosler, Hornady and several other brands of bullets, and used the same load data from one bullet to another based on weight of the bullet alone with no problems. Loading manuals are the best place to start with any given caliber. Most are not all that different with respect to caliber and bullet weight. Loading manuals are also usually set a few grains low on their charts to help keep your loads safe and still give good results.

Where you buy your bullets and loading supplies should have the manuals you need. If they do NOT carry them, it makes me wonder if they are someone who needs any patronizing.

I didnt specify that the load is for a Marlin Rifle. & there is no loading Data for this bullet as of yet, or at least that i can find. I want the hunt wild boar with this this fall. as of now I have a good 180 gr load for deer but wondered if thats enuff for hogs ?

Handgun loads are OK in a rifle, such as those on Hornady's website. The velocity will typically be 300-350 fps higher, but with the 44's rainbow trajectory, you should probably check the velocity in your particular rifle with a chronograph. I typically get 1740 to 1790fps with 240 gr jacketed bullets and standard loads using H110/W-W 296(they are the same powder) in 5 rifles with 18 1/2 to 26" barrels, so I've never seem the advantage of a lighter bullet, but to each their own. The 225gr FTX should work well. I'd question the penetration of 180 gr 44 bullets on larger hogs, but I've never dissected one hit with this bullet to find out for sure, so I'm just guessing.

Since it IS a rifle you are shooting your loads out of any of the ones listed above will be fine. I use the Hornady 300gr XTP bullets and when buying factory ammo I buy the same off the shelf as I mentioned. Also since it is a Marlin rifle you are using be sure and checkout http://www.garrettcartridges.com for his +P and +P+ loaded ammo. He only loads .44 mag and 45/70 and though a bit pricey they are worth the extra cost and I need to order a box of each myself as my last purchase ( 5 years ago ) are about to run out.
