I started reloading a few months ago and to date have only worked with 2 rifles, 22-250 and 308WIN.

Next I want to load for a couple of handguns and am looking for recommendations for bullets for range shooting.  Don't plan to use the reloads as my carry ammo as I already have factory ammo for that.  Just looking for ideas for inexpensive bullets that will shoot accurately at 7 to 10 yards.  I expect to shoot about 2,000 rounds a year at the range, total of the 2 guns.

I usually differ between practice rounds and plinking rounds. I try to keep my practice rounds close to the weight, velocity, and recoil of my factory carry ammo. This way if God forbid I'm ever called on to utilize my weapon, I'm readily familiar with the way it handles. Plinking and target shooting is another story. I try to come up with a light recoiling recipe and try to maintain the same point of impact as my factory rounds.

What pistols are you looking to load for?

Are you looking for loads that duplicate the feel of your defensive loads, or, are you looking for reduced recoil?

I use a lot of bullets from these folks.

When I reload 357 Sig, which I did last night, I use a 125 Grain 38 Super JHP by Zero Bullets with Accurate Arms Number 9 pushing it to hit the same POA/POI as the 125 Grain Speer Gold Dot factory fodder.

Gotta agree with Papa Jake!! I got more handguns then Carter has lil' liver pills! I cast for every center fire hand gun I have! alotta times I will run the bullet thru my CH swagein' dies to HP'um. On my higher velocity hand canons, I will GC the bullets.
IMO. ya can shoot that snake with your hi priced, way over expensive, extremely over rate, jacket bullets, or ya can shoot it with a 2 cent piece of lead. Eather way, that is one dead snake!

Plated bullets, such as Berry's are good up to 1400 fps. There is a South African manufacturer that makes similar and high quality plated bullets as well. Check with Black Hills Shooter's Supply. They may require you go through a dealer, however because they are a wholesaler.
My favorite JHP's in both calibers are Noslers for small game.
I've used the Lee tumble-lube 40 cal 170 gr bullets wight good success if I keep the velocity at 900fps or less.
