We live in New Jersey. My wife is a Dallas Cowboy Fan. Me, don't care either way. Would be nice to take her to a Cowboys game in Dallas, Have shot plenty of whitetail in New Jersey and South Carolina. Would like to shot a Muley. So if you were driving to Dallas for a game, where would you drive to go muley hunting. This would be with a .300 win mag. Have no problem shooting 300 yards, have not shot farther. I would be taking my wife to the lodge and leaving her there, while I hunt. Looking for recomendation with lodging and a tag that I could pretty much count on.

Ha ha, you are so funny, did you think of that by yourself?

Not looking for this hunting season. Have a whole year to find someplace to go.

Joe I live here in colorado not sure if you would want to come here before/after the game but i will be guiding this year at cowboy camp outfitters near fairplay... but if you are interested in something like that check out their website www.cowboycampoutfitters.com they have shot some really nice muleys over the years there not to mention some of the bulls they have taken out of there... I'm not sure what your price range is but they ain't super expensive... and its only 13 hours north of dallas

I just checked out their website, do not see a lodge listed. I want to my wife to have a good time as she does not hunt, I would like her to understand what it is like to stay in a lodge (bedrooms & bath).
But now looking outside Texas.

i just called him and they do have a lodge for her to hang out at while your out hunting... the first season is already booked and they only got the 2nd and 3rd season left... which are my favorite times to go out here... but if your still interested let me know and i'll get you my info and we can talk more about it.... As far as the license goes i think you can buy a vouture and that gets you a license for this year but not a 100% sure what they cost

If you can post some photos of the lodge and or cabins for me. I am planning for the fall of 2014. This gives me plenty of time to sort things out. This fall we are going to Blackwater in South Carolina. Again will be tying this into a football game in Dallas. Do they have a brochure??

Those are photobucket links to pics of the deer in my neighborhood. Copy and paste them into your browser line and they should come up.

My wife and I have been living 30 to 45 minutes (depending on traffic) east of Dallas for the last 4 years. I haven't done any hunting here yet.  Nobody to hunt with, and too expensive with land fees.  Anyway, I didn't know there was muledeer in Texas.  I thought all there was was whitetail.  There are mulies in New Mexico.  And like Tom said.  In Arizona also.  They are all over the state.  You have the desert mulie.  Then the ones up north in the mountain area's.  They are all big animals.  In the southern part of the state.  The whitetail and mulies actually can be found in the same area. And, sometimes.  Cross breed.  I shot one of these years ago in the mule mountains on the outside of Bisbee.  The Arizona whitetail is a subspecies called the Couse deer.  Most often pronounced coos deer.  It's an indian name actually pronounced cows deer.  The cross I shot field dressed 225 lbs.  A big Couse deer usually goes 100 to 120 lbs. field dressed.
