does a Mule Deer tast the same as a Whitetail Deer

OK I just took my first Mule Deer in Colorado and would like to know how much different they tast than a Whitetail Deer should I prepaire the meat differently or expect a drastic difference in tast?

congrats on your muley! The taste will be very similar, but if the deer was in the sage alot or drier area it could be a little sagey. I've had mule deer that tasted like beef, and some that were pretty gamey, but any deer can get that way for a variety of reasons. You should be in for some good eatin. I like to marinate mine in a little basalmic vinegar and olive oil at least the day before.

OK I am not so worried about how the Mule Deer will taste had steaks on the Grill used real wood charcoal they were great.

Yes I will but it took 7 years to draw this tag so I have some time to work on Elk next that only takes 3 years to draw

Taste of game depends on their diet and the care taken after they have been killed, with care being the most important. If you cool them off right away it will be good, if not it will be gamey no matter what it is.
