If you were going to make your own knife or wanted a custom knife made, what would be your choices for handles, metel, blade style, etc.

zsteager,
I do make my own knives from time to time. I prefer a weight forward toward the tip knife design for the aspect of throwing directly from the draw. I prefer my knife sheath to hold my knife in the inverted position on my backpack stap or on my belt. I relize this sounds a little out of the ordinary for a knife carry, but this was what I was taught and grew up with. I also prefer a sloped cutting edge on my knife with a heavy backbone for support. this allows the knife to be used for skinning , but is also heavy enough for a survival type situation as well. I also like a full tang through the handle which I prefer to be made from bone or wood which I sometimes wrap in paracord to add to the survival use of the knife. ( never know when paracord can come in handy) .

If your having one made for you, you can pick the materials, shape, weight and handle. The limits are your imagination, the limits of the knife maker and of course (as always) your bankbook...
