I just leased a new ranch in GMU 83 in southern Colorado. This ranch's south boundary is on the state line and is a wintering ground for the elk. This unit holds the big bull ranches that you have heard of, Taylor, Hill, Vermejo, Rio Costilla, and Cielo Vista. This ranch is 8,000 acres and the elk will be grazing there. This will be a low physical hunt but you will still need to be able to walk, but hiking hills will be minimum.

I am going to hunt this ranch during the over the counter license hunts. The hunts will be 4 days in length and a maximum of 4 hunters per hunt. More hunters may be on the hunt BUT ONLY if you are part of the total group.

I expect this hunt to be a high success hunt, with a high trophy potential. No one has hunted it before, so there is no track record to depend on. Cost of the hunt will be $3500 this year and I expect it to be $5500 next year. My goal for this year, is to harvest good bulls and establish a reputation for the ranch.

Hunt dates will be: October 20-23; October 25-28; November 3-6; November 8-11;

Let me know if you have any questions. You can contact me directly at info@kiowahunting.com or by going to my web site at www.kiowahunting.com for past references on my other hunts.

Presume you are higher elevation snow dependent to drive them down and don't want enough snow/weather to move them across state line. Right?

the ranch is located at 8300 feet where we are hunting. It is all the same elevation, no matter what side of the state line you are on. It is in the flats. It is a matter of getting them out of 10,000 to 12,000 foot peaks. It has already had a snow above 10,000

Sounds quite interesting....I have hunted in NM that time of year just across border for muleys and of course saw huge elk but no trophy muleys....would love to check your ranch out with a tag but can't swing it this year.
Good luck and thanks for responding so quickly!
