I have not seen (nor obviouly shot one) but it should prove very effective on medium sized game out a few hundred yds and even good for the biggest NA game inside, say, 200 yds.  It is essentially a factory-standardized .338-08 wildcat that has been around for years.  Ken Waters wrote about the wildcat, also called a .33 Winchester and some other things, and said that it had more game-killing power than the best .308 Win rounds.  Waters said it was more effective than the standardized .358 Win round as well.  I am toying with building one on a Model 7 Remington.

what happened to the marlin 338 express? sounded like a great all around gun. i wanted to get one but never could find it. love hunting with lever action rifles and sounded like this one would have been a hit with hunters. can someone tell me what happened to them or better yet where i might be able to find one
