I have been making some priming horns from elk horns and wanted to start making some for a buddy to sell at rendevous and such. would appreciate some pics from some of you guys that participate in these or maybe some tips of websites to check out. I've been buying supplies from dixie gun works, track of the wolf, jedediah starr, and crazy crow trading post.

There is documentation for the use of priming horns (actually repriming horns to be used in case of a flash in the pan) by some military units. Use of priming horns by civilians, however, seems to be a rare exception. They just don't show up in the historical record ,written or otherwise. Finding an actual example to copy is problematic. Horns that were originally thought to be priming horns turned out to be salt/spice or possibly day horns. Bottom line, there just isn't much to go on for producing a PC priming horn so find out what your customers want and go from there. Link is to the Horner's Guild website.

thanks, main trouble i'm having now is finding decently priced cow horns. most online leave little room for profit. will be using them mainly for predator calls and priming horns.

I'm not a Horner, but know a few. Sometimes they score raw horns on Craig's list or e-bay, otherwise they go to http://www.powderhornsandmore.com/ .

The craftsman forums at The Muzzleloading Forum or The Traditional Muzzleloading Forum will have people that might steer you to a source in your local area or more online sources.
