I have some training to schedule in Samford, Maine either in June or October. How is the bear hunting in Maine or possibly even moose?  My training is only 4 days, so l am looking spending more time hunting either before or after training.  Anyone got any recomendations?

You sure that's the name of the joint? Google maps knows nothing about it. Been up there but Maine's an awfully big state... ;-)

Do any of you know or recommend any outfitters in the area?

Like rsexton3 said, forget moose hunting its one of the hardest draws to win, bear on the other hand its quit well if you can find a good outfitter in the area. http://www.themainehuntingguide.com/wmd20.html Here is a wedsite that can point you in the right direction. I would suggest talking to Steven Beckwith from maine Guided Hunts from North Berwick, Maine. He has his own website Mainehunters.com Check him out.

Thanks for all the information. I got on Maines website. I'd love to moose hunt, but it sounds like i would have a better chance getting struck by lightning. I'll have to work out the details on my training and schedule some hunting time based around the training.

I wouldn't give up, but I also wouldn't empty the freezer to get ready either. I think Matt does ok on moose though. Worth chatting with him. GREAT place, In the middle of nowhere. Private cabins with a main lodge or meals. Lunchs are provided and hand made by the ladies who are great. Jess is a real sweetheart. And you will eat like a king.

Not cheap but definitely an experience that you'll remember forever.

Google Map Oxbow Maine to see the area they're in. Their "driveway" is about 20 miles back into the woods on a logging road. Then take a left... lol Fabulous place and fabulous people.

Sounds like I should wait to schedule the training after I get selected in the lottery.
