Hey to all. Just joined not to long a go and even more recently my hunting partner lost the lower half of his right leg in an accident at work. So now I am trying to find information about disabled hunting in our area for him. Not sure if he will be able to get out this season now, but still need to know. Any help is greatly appreciated .

Where are you located in Montana? I am in Missoula. Have been disabled since an auto accident in 2001. Alot depends on the area that you live as to what there is out there for disabled hunters. Tags are inexpensive. Got my deer, elk, bird, fishing and conservation tags for around $25.00. The areas that we get to hunt as a disabled hunter as not the greatest areas. The one up HWY 12 out of Lolo has more up and down spots that I am not able to walk. You will have to check the local Ranger Stations to find out what areas are in your neighborhood.

By the time next season rolls around with lots of work your friend should be getting around on his prosthesis just fine. Believe me I know what hard work and determination can do. And the guys here can verify that. I had a bike accident shattered pelvis, crushed heel, head injury, and pretty much destroyed the ligaments and tendons in both feet. Four months in a wheelchair missed that deer season but the next one opening day of bow season I scored a buck. I can't walk very far but the landowners who allow me to hunt understand and let me use my ATV to get close to my stands. In your buddies situation I know double amputees that run marathons. Tell your buddy to stick with the physical therapy no matter how much it hurts and he'll be almost good as new. An artificial leg works ALMOST as good as the original equipment.
