Wal Mart is going to be on board with the Presidents push to stop us from giving-saleing a gun with out the feds. nose in it other words fed registered(next to coming and getting your gun when they decide they don't like the way it looks or it might be used wrong)I'm asking other members to write their elected officials and WalMart Head quarters and let them know that we the lawful gun owners of this country will not take this lightly !!political Washington Reps. can be voted out of office, and we can let any buss. that thinks that we don't have a clue. Can find out how we feel when we take our money and spend it with a buss that understands our feelings. This is not just about semi auto's this is about the gov. getting their foot in the door to take your guns period!!!! Have you looked at your police departments as of late??military vehicles, full auto M-16s,notice Home Land security ,IRS,BATF and yes how many other gov. groups stocking up on(practice ammo)and gov. memo's looking at how to handle public unrest(and yes ways to use our armed troops here on U.S. soil.Think It can't happen? We got Obama care and we didn't want it but we got it !! Any one else notice The head lines on nat. media last few days??Any one see the news clip about the mother in Ga. that loaded down the ex/fellon with 5 38s. that broke into her house where she and her 3 kids were hiding in a closet??OH yes 911 had been called(the 38 got there first) you don't have to agree with me but please take the time to back up and look at history of other countrys that started just this way on taking the public's self protection away then other freedoms were not far behind. Companys like profit so if what they do hurts profit just maybe they might decide they don't like the band wagon they just got on ??? Thanks for reading

I'm afraid I haven't heard anything about this, and frankly have no idea what is being discussed. How exactly will Wal-Mart be helping the Feds? And beyond the NICS background checks and the mandatory form 4473, what other Fed info are they supposed to be gathering???? |

Somehow, I haven't managed to see or hear any of this. I do know that Wal-Mart's prices are going up, especially on Bushmaster and DPMS. |

I haven't heard of this either. But it would suit me fine if Wally world stopped selling guns. I absolutely despise the store and would rather pay a little more for my stuff from a gun shop, operated by someone who knows what they're talking about when they sell you a gun. If you guys get time, you REALLY need to read the blog on this website called "Extinction of the Gun Shop" by Richard Mann. We should all support the gun shops and let Wal Mart stick to selling tampons, diapers, and socks. You know....stuff they're good at. I'll stick to buying my guns from someone who can tell me how their product performs because they know all about it. |

Leslie, I have a regular FFL that I deal exclusively with these days. I'd just hate to see Wal-Mart get out of the business due to the number of towns they are in that don't have a local gun shop or an FFL dealer. Besides, the fact that that blooming idiot Michael Moore tried to force 'em out of the gun business, just makes me hope they don't get out of it. I will say that in a few of their stores there is usually one person who knows what they're talking about, you just have to know who they are and when they're working. I have taken advantage of them in the past, like the time I bought my Mossberg 935 for $285.00 when it first came out, then the next week I was in the store and the price on the same model gun was $589.00. |

You make a good point Ron, and I have made a lot of good purchases from there. That Ruger American is there right now for $357.00. A good bit cheaper than anywhere else I've seen them. But I would rather pay $20.00 more and buy it from the store in town.I just think it's important to support our local gun shops if we have one. |

In many ways I wish I did reload, but I own way too many different calibers in both rifles and handguns, not to mention 3 different gauges of shotguns. It would cost me a fortune to invest in reloading equipment.
BTW, Leslie, I talked with my FFL guy yesterday, and have a new XDS with two extra 7 round magazines on order, along with a new Core 15 AR. I am selling some stock and should have my cash in time for their arrival around Feb. 16th.

Wall Mart stopped selling guns in CA because of them getting in trouble with the state .We have a 2 week waiting period .No questions asked .It was taking up to 3 to 4 weeks to get the back ground checks done so Wall Mart started giving the guns to the customers at the end of two weeks .And the state went after them ,and rather than to pay a big fine they agreed to stop selling guns for ten years . |

In SC, after the NICS background check has been submitted, the dealer only has to wait 72 hours. If no reply is received within that time, the gun can be turned over to the purchaser. I thought part of the problem in California was caused by Michael Moore and his "Bowling for Columbine" movie and sh*t, and the subsequent boycott effort he lead against Wal-Mart out in Co., Nv., and Cal. I know that was when several of the stores in Ga., Fl., and SC also stopped selling guns. As far as the stores here in SC that stopped, every one of them are now selling guns again. |

Aside from California, where it's too much of a pain to sell guns anyway, Walmarts policy is they will not release the gun until they get a proceed on the background. They a couple of years ago pulled guns from all but about 1/3 of their stores, as a business move (expensive to have a gunroom full of them) and hoped people would go to a store that sold them. That obviously didn't do what they wanted so they have put them back in most stores. I also heard that the government wanted them to join forces on the gun issue, but Walmart declined the offer. Walmart prices are hard to beat and they are able to get a lot of guns other than on thier shelves, look at the special order book if interested in something not in the display case. I too support local gun shops, but if I can save a substantial bit of money, why should I buy at an inflated price. |

I buy most of my guns at Big 5 sporting goods .Most of the local gun shops are way over priced .I can buy the ammo I use for 19.99 at Big 5 ,and all the gun shops want 24.99 for the same stuff . |

Steve, I haven't bought a gun from them since my Mossberg 935 (about 5 years ago), but prior to getting my CWP, I had bought a Beretta shotgun from them and they didn't get a response within the 72 hours, and I was able to pick it up with no trouble. That was probably about 13 or 14 years ago, so I have no idea what the stores here would do now if it exceeded the 72 hours according to SC law. Our NICS checks are processed by the SC Law Enforcement Division and not directly through NICS and the Feds, and SLED is also the issuing agency for our CWP. |

Missouri still uses the NICS system. If they can't give an immediate response they transfer you to a FBI examiner who usually gives a proceed. In the event of a delay, if we get no response before the form expires (30 days) the gun is not released. If this happens the customer can go through the procedure to get a Fed. PIN that makes it easier to purchase in the future. Not sure how long that process is, has nothing to do with our end of the business. |

Why not do your homework on the gun you are wanting instead of waiting for some jackleg at a sporting goods store telling you about the product, Heck a lot of off duty police work at the home town shops and I don't know bout other places but the one's I have talked to don't know a bit more than I do and most ot the times even less, Do Your Home Work !!!!! |

snider, my FFL guy always tells his employees that I can educate them. Your suggestion about researching what you want to buy, holds true for everything. It doesn't matter if it's a vehicle, boat, RV, or a gun, the more information the purchaser has, the better off he is. |

Snider makes a very good point. I bought my last gun from Bass Pro and the young guy didn't know much about guns. He was just trying to make a living. But I knew all about the gun and it's competitors from 6 months of research. All I did was walk in and say "I'll take that one". Done deal. And on another hand, you don't have to worry about him trying to tell you what he "thinks" you need. He can't do that with only a little bit of knowledge. Ron, what caliber XDs did you get? would like to see them sometime. |

It's a .45 acp and I should have it by the middle of Feb., since my guy had to order it and Elletts is backed up with outstanding orders. As far as I know, all of the XDS are only available in black, so I won't have a match to my full sized XD which is in the coyote color.
