the fire has been put out now, but there is still a command trailor with 2 cars still down the road! we have had like 77 days with .03 or less rainfall! and i live in a forest everything is very dry, the news here said it was 10 acres! from the smoke i saw i was guessing 35 to 50!! there is still no explaination on what started it! living with tree`s for miles a fire is the 1 thing that gets to everyone! terrified my granddaugter(4yo) who was with me! |

etaylor, we got rain today! thats a good thing, i live at the convergence of 3 forests!! and am surounded by 1,000`s of acres of tree`s! as far as my hunting goes, i am up to either 2 shorts walks a day or 1 larger walk! the short walk is maybe .2 of a mile the larger walk is maybe .4! i do have help now, my niece`s hubby and a neighbor`s son says he will help also! so if mother nature coperates i will be out there throwing sticks at deer at least!! and no no damage to my stuff-stuff!! and no stress from that site either!! |

this last weekend I was on a muzzeloader elk hunt, the wifes, in the colockum and the smoke from the wenatchee and table mountain fires was really thick. Those poor folks in town have been breathing that stench since the 15th of sept. The blackend forest around cle-elum was just sad. The wind farm is still churning and the towers didn't even look discolored. This weekend I am going to try and find her a deer, and the snow level is going to be 3000 ft. At least the fires are out now.. |

Hey crippledhunter, I noticed on ctrees string that you are going to be able to get out and do some hunting. THAT is GOOD NEWS. Regardless of what size, or if it is a slick-head or a B&C trophy, I wish you Luck. I know some people say Luck has nothing to do with it, but whatever it is, I hope you get one> |

Steve, are you asking about good as in eating? If so, I've seen several articles that mention the tenderloins and backstraps, and I've seen recipes for cougar and bobcat. I plan to try some bobcat backstraps the next time I kill one. |

cripplehunter, I've heard all my life that people have eaten big cats and the meat is awesome. I think I would try it if given the chance. Here in Missouri, the penalty for killing a Puma, Mt. Lion, Panther, Catamount, whatever name you want to use, is extreme. One report here was of a guy who found a "road Kill", took it home, skined it out, then got nervous and threw the skin away. Conservation agency tracked him down and threw the "book" at him. Anyway, what I was wondering, before I started rambling, is have you seen your cat again? They travel so far, and thier range is so extensive, you might not see him again for awhile. Still getting outdoors I hope!!! Take care and good luck Erv. |

Yeah, just never thought of eating cat. Dunno why, probably 'cause they aren't prevalent in the NE. They are here, just not many. |

Yeah, I can see why the kitty would stay close. With that much food on the hoof, the only reason he would leave would be to find a "she cat". And even then he might bring her home with him. Most females like the prospect of easy pickings. Keep us up-to-date. If you harvest him, I'd like to know how he tasted, (and don't say like chicken).LOL. GOOD LUCK. |

hey erv, last year we had a female with 3 cubs here for a long time! i wasn`t worried about her she knows what she wants to eat, but the little one`s they only knew they wanted to eat!! them i was worried about, on the next road over a guy was chopping wood with his lab beside him and 1 came charging them in full daylight! he had to grab his dog and run for the house!!! a nieghbor was playing with the deer i day, they wanted to see what a lazer pointer would do to them, how they would react! after 4 or 5 minutes all the deer just bolted!! the next thing they knew the screen on the window went flying off! and this guy was staring at them, the wife began to scream "shut it off shut it off"" here`s why!! http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk300/crippledhunter/cougar.jpg if i am lucky enough to get 1 i will let you know! never tried it as a meal allways as jerky made with terriyaki!! |

cripplehunter, tried to pull down your site to see the damage to the window screen, and the message poped up that you had moved or removed the pic. I have a vision in my head about someone having to do some laundry shortly thereafter. The critters are protected(?) here, but if one gets in my space, I'll be making Jerky also. |

HAY PATRICK , I JUST HAD TO PUT ONE OF THEM DOWN HERE IN CA , AND IT MADE ME MAD THAT THE PEOPLE WERE FEEDING IT TO GET IT SHOT BY D.F.G. OR US AT US FISH & WILDLIFE SO , I MADE AN EXAMPLE OUT OF THEM BY WRIGHTING THEM A NICE BIG TICKET THAT THEY WILL NEVER FORGET WHEN THEY FIND OUT HOW MUCH IT WILL COST THEM.. HA HA .. I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY TIMES PEOPLE DO THIS AFTER THEY ARE TOLD " NOT TO " BUT , I WILL KEEP WRIGHTING TICKETS TILL THEY GET THE MESSAGE .. ANY WAY JUST WATCH YOUR KIDS AND PETS WHEN THERE AROUND BECAUSE THEY WILL BE GONE FAST..

Cherokee, If I read you correctly, you wrote a citation to someone for feeding/baiting a Mountain Lion? If that's the case, you should have given them one for endangerment to children, pets and livestock, etc. And, then they; (I know you can't fix stupid), should have been written up for Stupidity. Because they were idiots, you had to kill something that might have otherwise lived a normal life. |
