On April 29, 2011 Hunter Hansen then age 8 was diagnosed with leukemia. He underwent treatment and seemed to get better for a while but unfortunately he got sick again. Then while living at the Ronald McDonald house for 88 days tragedy struck again. On September 18, 2012 Hunter and his mother Chari Lyn lay down for a nap. One which Chari Lyn didn’t wake up from. At the age of 37 her heart stopped beating while she slept. Hunter has undergone chemo, a bone marrow transplant, and many other medical treatments. Unfortunately shortly after his mothers death the tests results came back and confirmed that little Hunter has an untreatable form of leukemia. With nothing more the doctors can do for him they sent him to spend the rest of his way to short life with his father Phil and remaining brother Phil JR (Buster) in Rock Springs. Last year The Make a Wish foundation granted Hunter his wish, he wanted to take his mom on a cruise to Alaska. Unfortunately when the time came he was to sick to go. The Make a Wish Foundation is currently trying to send him again. Hopefully his health will hold long enough for his little family to enjoy a much needed break. If you can find it in your hearts/wallets to support our fundraiser it would be greatly appreciated. We would love to take some of the financial burden off of Phil. Squares for the football board will be $25, and will pay on the final score on Thanksgiving. If we can sell a couple boards we will do them on multiple games. The cash board winner will receive $500. On the other board the winner will get his choice of the Bear Carnage, Bear Anarchy or the Bear Siren bow. Or we will have 3 choices of guns. I will update this as soon as I have the info. Phillip is one of 5 (Phil, Eric, Amy, Luke, & Jodi) children of Dennis and Marsha Hanson, He graduated Lyman High School in 1991 and is currently working and living in Rock Springs.  If you would be interested in helping out you can mail me a check made out to Phil Hansen and I will mail you a copy of the board with your name on it.  I am going to wait to post my address until anybody shows interest. Thanks for reading!

How did you come about being on this BB ? You will need to put forth as much info about yourself as possible and then there is the need to show this is a legitimate request for this family.

Thanks Holly. Will do. Big dog, I am a member of NAHC, i am also the one putting the fundraiser together. I have met many amazing people on this site as well as SNA and I can assure you that it is legitimate, I do understand your hesitance though. We are in the process of starting a donation account at two banks but they will have to be in Phil's name and he is extremely busy right now as you can imagine. I would be happy to post that info as soon as I have it nailed down. As for about me, I went to school with this family, my graduating class was under 100. In a small town like this where everybody knows everybody we jump in to help in any way we can. I don't know what proof i can put on here that couldn't be fabricated, you would just have to know me to know i do stuff like this all the time.

I really feel sorry about little Hunter's situation; but when the Make-A-Wish organization stopped honoring requests for hunting, fishing, and gun related activities, then my support for them, also stopped.

BTW, I also met some good folks on the SNA site, but it's too bad that SNA is such a screwed up outfit, myself and many others quit that site because of their lousy customer service and total lack of interest in the members issues. At least the NAHC will send you an e-mail acknowledging receipt of a complaint, even though they may not do anything else. SNA won't even go that far!!!!!!!!!!!

I think she's a relatively new member. She arrowed one h*77 of a muley for her first with the bow not long ago.

Your efforts are commendable ctrees. There are 3 NFL games on turkey day. Which one/s are the pools on? How would I pick my square? Send something like 3 down 6 right or something to designate the square? Anyway to get you the $ electronically via PayPal or something?  I think a little more info is needed.

OK, Rthomas4, I agree about two things you said. The make a wish foundation should offer every "wish" and the SNA site is messed up. BUT I still support both because of the people involved. Be it the kids with cancer who did nothing wrong and the amazing friends that I have made on SNA. That said not a nickle of this money goes to Make A Wish. Every penny goes directly to the family.
PVGILETTI. Yes only 28 posts, I have been a member for several months but am not a very vocal one :-) For some reason when a girl joins sites like this there are people out there that think she must be a single girl.... and while I don't cry sexual harrasment there is only so many times a girl can hear "Nice Rack" before it gets old. I am happily married, have 3 of the most amazing kids you have ever seen, and am one that thinks before she speaks.
I was nominated as the State Of Wyoming Woman of The Year 2012, which I honestly hope I don't recieve. So far this year I have raised over $10.000 for charities that I believe in. Last year I had a baby and took it off, the year before one of my daycare kids was hurt in a motercycle accident and I made enough to pay for life flight, $14,000. The reason I would like to help people is not because of the recognition I will recieve. It is because I have been there. And because I was raised by parents that tought me not to sit by and say "I wish there was something I coud do". There's always something you can do. Be it big or small. to the person recieving it it could mean the world.
Steve... Thanks! For the comments on my deer and the backup. Hunters cousin's first grade class are going to draw the numbers for the board. We haven't decided which game to play on, I am honestly hoping to play on all three.
I have an offer. If we can sell 100 squares on this website, I will drop the price to $10/square, the 1st grade will still pick the 0-9 across the top and down the side. Steve picks the game. I will post a copy of the board on here. I will personally cover the paypal cost for every $10. The board will be decided by the last digit of the final score of both teams. The Hansen family will recieve $750 the winner on here will get $250 payed by myself, in the form of a personal check or money order. Whichever they choose.
Elk opens here tomorrow so I wont be around but will check early Wed. Thanks All!

You're most welcome ctrees. I think you're a stand up young Lady with a good heart and wanting to do something to help. Very commendable, IMO.  I've seen alot of cancer, it ain't pretty and anything that makes the people who have it happier is well worth it!

I'm retired now and can't contribute what I once was able, but I still try, and I want to know where it goes. I donated a bunch to the hurricane disaster that I suspect ended up in some bigwigs pocket 'cause it didn't end up where it was supposed to... but I'll get off that soapbox.

Guys, this seems like a good cause to me. Last year we got hosed (IMO) by a guy who wanted a new rifle and we bit on that. At least this one I know is real.

If the thing here takes off - put me down for 5 squares. If not, put me down for 2 on your $25/square board. I'll mail you a check for fifty and put it to whichever way pans out. No sense of you paying the PP charges. Just let me know the game/s and numbers ahead of time. You can always contact me at: smcalvin@verizon.net

Let me know your snail mail (via email) and I'll get a check out to you.

Which game? I guess it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things does it? ;-) Take your pick either way.

I totally commend female hunters! What a great story ctrees! My wife and myself do a lot of fund raising for our high school marching band and numerous charities through motorcycle ralleys. Ya, I'm a Harley guy and love it! We also fund raise for our local YMCA and next year we plan to raise them a bunch of bucks that comes from years of trial and error. Count me in! And yes, this only confirms, you and your buck are trophy's!

If that won't work you should be able to search the "Hunter Hansen fundraiser" in events on facebook. It shows a portion of the locals that are supporting it that know everybody involved. I am sorry that there is a need to be so carefull about whom you donate to and I understand everybody's hesitance completly. I'm off to find an elk :-) Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

Yep ! Seems like us everyday good folk so I say put on whatever you want and we will give you all the support we usually give when it's one of our own !!! This is just a suggestion but a firearm giveaway is alwasy a good money maker. We do a good many fundraisers ( We are currently running a Haunted House ) here for another charity group and the local gun dealers are always willing to donate a firearm that we then turn around and sell tickets for a chance to win. We also had a really generous and extremely nice gentleman give us a 60's muscle car completely restored which we sold tickets for at $100.00 a piece and it really went over well and helped raie sbaout what it takes for us to stay running for two years. Since we are a 501C charity everything is tax deductibel and it makes it much easier when we hand them a signed letter stating their donations which in turn they can use as 100% deduction on their taxes. So like I said whatever you come up with I will support it and you. It's really great to see that there are others out there willing to do what it takes to take care of our own for a change. A classic case of taking a whole village to raise a child but also to provide the best for that same child. YEEE HAAAWWW go gittem girl and be sure and keep us updated as I am not a facebook afficiando myself.

PS: My email addy is bigdawgwalls@yahoo.com where you can send me your snail mail address so I can get a donation headed your way.

Thanks once again Steve.
MWALTON7..... What questions can I help you with, you can pm me or ask flat out on here. Chances are that if you have questions then someone else shares the same concerns.
If you click the link Steve was so kind as to post you will see that this very sad story is true. On the football board I am still counting on Steve to name the game ;-), He gets his choice between The Texans V the Detroit lions, The Cowboys V The Redskins, and the Jets V the Patriots. There will be 100 squares with one teams name down one side and the other teams name across the top. Hunters cousins first grade class are going to draw the numbers 0-9 out of a bucket and place them first down the side and then across the top, if you would like I can video this and put it on youtube. I will also post the board on this website so everybody can see what numbers they have. The board pays only on the final score. There is probably going to be a newspaper article at the completion of these fundraisers in that will tell how much money I gave to Phil. I will break it down if you like so that it specifically says that Phil got $750 from NAHC.
Please don't worry about offending me by asking questions, it doesn't make me mad. It only makes me mad that there are people out there that cause the need to.
:-)
I have a huge fundraiser this weekend (not related to Hunter) and am going to be quite busy for the rest of the week. As soon as I am done with that I will scan a board to this site so ppl can pick their squares. And post this in the misc. catagory (I didn't forget Holly ;-) )
Thanks again!

ok Boss... if that's the case how 'bout we go with the Redskins/Cowboys game then. Unless someone else has strong feelings. I honestly don't care. Was going to go with the NE/NY game but it's on the NFL Network and I don't think everyone gets that channel, but CBS and FOX are universally available I think.

cara,
I'm late with this I know, but having some trouble here at home, just wanted you to know the check will go out in today's mail. If all the squares are gone, no big deal. I'm more Baseball than Football fan anyway. If there are squares left put me down for 5 on your $10.00 board.
Just checked the picture of your deer. Sure is a great one. Bet you and your family sure are proud.I'll never be able to afford a Muley hunt, but the Wildlife gurus have brought Elk back here to Mo., sooooooooo if I live long enough I might get to hunt one.
Congratulations and Good Luck on your project to help LUKE.

Thanks all!!!! I reposted this as Hunter Hansen Fundraiser. I didn't want there to be any confusion as to the prizes or which board was offered on here. I am only doing the $10 board with a cash prize for NAHC as I don't want to mess with awarding a gun over state lines. I hope everyone understands. I also posted all details in the main message so that anything pointed out on pages two or three here doesn't get missed :-)
Thanks again!

I'm sure the season is fairly long and on top of that she has a "day job", also., so I was only trying to inject some humor in my post so it wouldn't seem like I was questioning her timeline.
I've been sorta off the track myself lately. My wife was supposed to come home tomorrow, but I found out today the Doctor wants her to stay 3 more days.
ctrees is going beyond the call of duty trying to help Hunter, and I Pray to God her efforts will be rewarded.

I sent her a note asking for her to check in.

I was just about to send you a note asking if she was home yet. Sadly I see that's not the case, but
if they're thinking of cutting her loose in 3 days, she's gotta be doin' much better! Congrats to you both!

THANKS steve,
I know what you mean. She got pneumonia in the hosp. They are going to deliver a hosp. bed, wheelchair, and a Porta Potty when she gets home, so maybe we can get her back on her feet. I think things are going the right way this time. She won't be able to go through a 5th operation.

Hi all!!
Sorry it's been a while, I have been busy.
I mailed back the 3 checks that I got. I really appreciate the support but it isn't looking like I would be able to fill a board. I know that you would have said to keep them but that would have done nothing for the suspicious people on here. ;-) I will keep it posted and if his dad gets a donation account set up at the bank I will share details. We are doing really well on the local boards, I am pleased with the fact that we were able to give them a bit of money while little Hunter can enjoy it.
Once again thanks for the support and prayers. It is great to know that there are people out there with the ammount of compassion that you all have shown.
Sorry this is short, I gotta run,
Cara

Cara,
I'm sorry that you feel you had to send the check back to me. I don't care what the suspicious people think or feel. If you can give the money to Hunter's dad, then do it. If you have already sent it back, I can send it directly to Hunter's family. My little dab won't be enough to do any good, but maybe they can use it for something. If I get the check back, you'll have to send me Hunter's address. Why couldn't you have used it on the "local boards"?
My e-mail for his address is: gnatsum65@hotmail.com

GUYS,and GALS,
Why does there HAVE to be a raffle, or a chance to "win something", in order for us to help this little boy? Couldn't we all just give a little, and watch it multiply. pennies make dollars!!!!! The price of one box of ammo would mean alot if everyone sent that amount. What's one trip to the firing range one way or the other?

etaylor8, the mail hasn't ran yet. If you would like I will put you on a cash board, I don't have time right now to look into the legalities of doing a gun board over state lines right now. The squares on the local boards are $25, payout of $500. That said, your "little dab" will help, when everybody gives a little it adds up to a lot. We are pretty close to selling 4 boards here.
Thanks again!

I'm with you Erv. How much money was it the school bus monitor got? 750k or something like that?

My check's going back and Cara can disperse it as she sees fit. I'm confident she'll do what's best.

Edit:  Cara, if you haven't mailed my check back, don't.

Cara,
I trust you to do what you think would be the RIGHT thing for Hunter. Don't worry about the gun thing. I for one have all the guns I will ever need. As I said earlier, I don't have to win something to prompt me to help someone like Hunter. He lost his mother, and is fighting for his life now. He needs all the help and support we can give him. Don't send my check back. Just think, if you keep my check, you will save both of us the price of a stamp.....yours to send it to me, and mine to sent it back.

ctrees,
FANTASTIC!!!!! I was hoping and keeping my fingers crossed that who ever came out with the winning score, would go ahead and declare Hunter the WINNER. If you know Brian Proctor, Thank him for me, shake his hand for me, and tell him I think he is a STAND-UP kind of guy. Sure was a great thing for him to do.
AND ctrees, I PRAY that GOD bestows great BLESSINGS on you for what you did. You spent a lot of time on this, and (I don't know, but suspect) you sacrificed part of your life to help this Little Man.
Makes my heart feel good to know there are persons left in the world like you. Your family is proud of you, I'm sure.

BTW, ya gonna get your 5 bucks from cripplehunter, or let him off the hook?LOL.

mwalton7,
Might have been a case of us us having something in common. Didn't adovacate I was trying to get Personal. Everyone has a Favorite Team. I like The Vikings. Only because their name is Vikings. Didn't mean to cause any concern. Like you said, DON't Matter AT ALL.
If you're offended, I apoligize, didn't mean anything by it.
Way I look at it is: It's all about what part of the country you live in: I'm in Mo., but don't really care for the Rams.
As the Old Baker always said, "What ever crumbles your cookie".

mwalton7,
EVERY ONE who has ever written anything in these forum are usually ONLY expressing his /her opinion.
YOU have as much RIGHT to say what you feel as anyone else. Some of the (guys/gals) get things started just to get someone riled up, IMO.
It can get pretty heated up sometimes, but after all is said and done, I don't think anyone is going to go to war over anything said here. Might call you a what-chu-ma-call-it, but it's all in fun.
There is more knowledge and experience right here, than any Library or internet you could mention. So if you want to express your opinion, or seek info. on something, jump in with both feet.
GOD BLESS You& Yours,
GOOD HOLIDAYS to ya.

Why the h*77 not?!?  I've found most times that conflicts come up it's due to the lack of being able to see someones face, hear their voice inflections, etc. Typically it's some sort of misunderstanding, people "kiss and make up" and back to normal. That's what makes this forum a bit unique.  Kinda like family in a way, family can get on your nerves once in a while but usually after a cooling off period it just gets shaken off and all's back as it was.

mwalton7,
YEH, What steve said!!!!! Why the Hill not?
If NO ONE was allowed to express their opinion here, most of these pages would remain blank.
Because we live in America, we have the right, and sometimes the responsibility to speak our piece. Not everyone will agree with those opinions sometimes, but that's what it is all about.
Open discussion, with differences of opinions, and after some cussin, and discussin, we come to an agreement. SOMETIMES.
If you are easily offended, or don't like it when someone disagrees with you, then you will find times when you won't like what you read.
Anyway Bud we are all friends here and most will help when we can.
If you got a question, speak up. Help with info when you can, and have fun here.

Lol, no worries. Every thread needs a little "side trip" every now and then :-)
The fundraiser went good. I didn't raise as much as I had hoped but this is one of those that I would always wish there was more that I could do. He is such a delightful kid. Hunter is doing ok, he got to spend Thanksgiving at home with his family so that was good. He is a trooper. :-)
Eddie, I give Brian a hug every time I see him. We graduated high school in the same class, after which he went off and joined the marines. He is home now, and he and his wife (a school teacher) just found out that their first baby is going to be a girl. A couple months ago Brian was doing a fundraiser to help another local, Chaz, with cancer and called me. He did a gun raffle and wanted to have a BBQ so there were witnesses to the drawing. I catered it and we turned it into another money maker for Chaz. Brian is a great guy, and one that I am proud to call a friend :-)
I would like to say thanks again to those who put blind faith into this and were able to help. You guys are really amazing!!

Steve, that is crazy. I just logged on to report this Hunter passed away last night. He took a turn for the worse a bit before Christmas and couldn't come back from it. They did an interview with him a little while ago, when i am on a computer instead of my phone i will post a link. He was a very courageous young man. Way beyond his years. My thoughts and prayers are with his family today. Thank you to those who supported and/or cared.

I am not sure if this is going to work. If for some reason it doesn't you can go to Yourstreet.com and in the green box in the right corner run a search on Living with cancer. It will bring up "Living wtih cancer without his mother" It tells more about him and his family, it also has an interview with Hunter himself. There is a place to pledge to help out financially for those who choose. I do not know much about this or if the site will stay up now that he has passed on.
Thanks again for everybodies support and concern! It does mean a lot.
