  • cgriffith6 Iowa Hunters This was the first year that I have realy went hunting through Chichaqua Green Bottoms. Its deffinatly a beautifull area with some nice trails. I was not fortunate enough to harvest any game thi last season, but it gave me a few strategies to start working on when the weather warms a little. Is anyone from around the Ankeny to Ames area?

  • jlee811 mdover315 i have been hunting for a while bu i follow the basics and am trying to get back to natural hunting with out all the gadgets and all that. atleast for bow hunting anyway. i hunt in the 9N area and got my biggest buck a few years back the trick is to let the little ones go past ya and let them get bigger. best i can tell ya is to try and make a natural blind out of what nature has provided and manage your trails and do some mock hunting during late summer and early fall so the deer are used to seing you in the area and dont get spooked to easily. i can walk within 10 yards of a deer before it takes off because i do the mock hunts

    • mdover315thanks for the advice and tips. That's what my buddy and I do, we hunt with just the basics. I have a deer call, but don't use it often. I also bring b=natural deer urine.
