I just returned from 2 days of duck hunting at Honey Brake—a true sportsman's paradise in east-central Louisiana. I'll have plenty more to tell you about the Honey Brake Experience, but for now I'll get straight to the meat.

If you’ve never seriously thought about hunting Texas, let me give you a few reasons to reconsider

I told you my Ford F150 was headed back to Nebraska and my trip wrapped up with a great hunt that was a nail biter. I hooked up with Eric and Shannon Ravenscroft at SBG Hunts in the Sandhills of north-central Nebraska. Eric and Shannon take a minimal amount of hunters on the family ranch, but what a ranch it is.

Richard Lomas was hunting near the Little Wabash River in southern Illinois on December 2 when he scored on a wild-looking 30-point non-typical whitetail—what he figured was a buck of a lifetime. Upon further examination, he discovered his trophy was missing the “plumbing” necessary to fully qualify as a male of the species.

Christmas is right around the corner and I have yet to get any shopping done. How can I? I've been on the road almost constantly since early this fall. Fortunately, my wife Sharon handles shopping for family and friends—plus always picks something nice out for herself. (I wonder what she got herself this year?)
