My kids were still on Christmas break earlier this week and Cole wanted to shoot a coyote, so we headed out for one last try before he had to hit the books. We hooked up with a good friend of mine, and set up before sunrise to call along a creek overlooking a frozen reservoir. Word has been out for almost a week now that the gray wolf in the Western Great Lakes region has been removed from the Endangered Species List, thusly turning their management over to state jurisdiction. This is great news—most importantly for the status of the wolf population, but equally for those, like me, who want an opportunity to hunt them.
