Best Ways To Discover New Hunting Gear For 2013

By: Mark Kayser

Jan 11

As major hunting seasons begin winding down or come to an end, a new season is here: gear season. In fact, you could call it a belated Christmas for hunters as companies rush to get gear and gizmos in the hands of retailers and consumers.

This is the time of year when two of the hunting industry’s largest trade shows take place. The Archery Trade Association (ATA) Show just wrapped up in Kentucky, and SHOT Show begins next week in Las Vegas. ATA focuses on the archery industry, while SHOT encompasses shooting, hunting and the gear involved with both activities.

Unfortunately, you can’t shop at these shows, so you'll have to wait until the products hit store shelves or become available online. That’s right: You can’t get into these shows unless you're an outdoor-industry retailer, manufacturer or media professional. (Or unless you're the NAHC Mentor of the Year.)

Don’t wring your hands in despair or set up an appointment with your counselor. You can still experience these shows—from the comfort of your home—because the North American Hunter team will be providing extensive coverage. You can check out highlights from ATA on the NAHC YouTube channel, and be sure to visit HuntingClub.com/SHOT13 in the coming weeks for sizzling updates from SHOT Show.

Get ready to see the latest and greatest firearms, ammunition, apparel, knives and other intriguing accessories that will fuel your outdoor addiction.

We should all be so lucky Mark. Not only do you people get to travel and meet new clients and potential business partners, you also get into all the new equipment. As I said, we should all be so lucky. You just have to enjoy what you can control.

I guess we all can't be so lucky, but it would be nice to see how it feels. You go guys and don't work to hard. Have fun and report everything. Wish I was there.
