Breaking Live Video Feed: NRA Addresses Public In DC

By: Josh Dahlke

Dec 21

In the wake of the tragic shootings in Newtown, Connecticut, the NRA is holding a major press conference in the Washington, DC area this morning at 11 a.m. EST. Watch the live feed by clicking right here.

The NRA issued a statement on Tuesday, Dec. 18—their first official words following the Sandy Hook shootings: "The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again." What that means is to hopefully be determined in today's press conference.

Editor's note: The press conference has ended. You can read the transcript from the conference speech by NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre right here. Stay tuned at HuntingClub.com for more.

As is typically the case, NRA is taking steps to see a viable solution to a horrific problem. You notice the professional manner in which the addresses are given and the unprofessional manner in how the media conducts themselves.
I hope that this program gains traction and that we see legitimate solutions to these issues.

Unfortunately, this is going to fall on deaf ears. The only thing that will satisfy the anti gun radicals out there, is complete disarmament. Most of the others, the common sense people out there who are not necessarily anti gun, they cannot see why removing what they see as an unneeded weapon, the Assault weapons/AR's will hurt anyone. I don't think any pro gun argument is going to matter, until it calms down more.

what happened at Sandy Hook was a horrible thing but here is the fact. The subperson that did this regardless of his motivation for doing so, chose to attack little children and no one knows why. I know why. He wanted to kill himself and he wanted to take as many with him as he could. He wanted to hurt as many people as he could and get to be famous for it. This subman just happened to chose a semi-automatic weapon to do so.
Not one adult person at Sandy Hook was armed.
It is a good thing this evil doer did not chose to use machetes, because if he did he would have been able to kill many more.
I know that what I am about to say will offend people but that's not my purpose. Edged weapons would have been the thing this killer would have been able to use even more devastatingly than the guns that he chose. Those poor children would have still would not have been able to get away from him and the teachers still would not have been able to stop him. He could have laid waste to many more than he did because edged weapons don't run out of bullets and the staff at that school was unarmed.
If the subman had gone to a high school and tried to do the same thing he would have killed some but there was to much risk for him that some of this big 17 and 18 year old boys could have stopped him.
There are two points here that I am making. #1 this subhuman chose to attack those who had the least ability to fight back who did nothing to provoke him and did not deserve to be harmed.
#2 If the Staff at Sandy Hook had been armed with hand guns that they had been trained to use the Attacker would not have killed more than one or two before he met his demise.
The answer to the problem in not to ban any kind of weapon for citizens to use but rather to arm and train educators and other school staff and make it mandatory that this be done in all public and private schools. Every teacher in every class room should be carrying on his or her person a concealed weapon that the students never see but it is there just the same.

What I have said here is the only logical solution to the problem we are facing now. You know as well as I do that what I have suggested here will never happen but it is the only thing that makes sense.

I second that, but I hope no crazy people hear the edged weapon proposal, cause it could happen next time. However I thought the same thing.

Firearm, edged weapon, club or explosives. Any disturbed individual intent on doing harm to others will find a way to do so. The concept of having armed personnel in schools is regrettable but possibly unavoidable.
In a larger context, the monitoring, treatment and containment of mentally unstable people would do more to avoid these types of tragedies than any restriction of second amendment rights or any number of armed personnel. When I was a child, and granted that was several decades ago, we didn't have these types of crimes. We watched everything from the Three Stooges to Combat on TV and played shoot 'em up with our friends. No one ever thought any of it was real and we never considered the possibility of mass shootings.
There were no mass shootings by "unstable" people because the truly dangerous ones were confined for treatment. Forget the liberal touchy feely mantra about their self esteem, inclusion and civil rights. If the whack job in Newtown had been confined (and his mother was in the process of making that happen), there would be over 2 dozen of our follow citizens still alive today.

First off, My Heart goes out to anyone who looses a child. But, the NRA is Right if you take our Guns away what is next, Knives or maybe Hammers??? Which are Tools to many Professions, and let say and put the Construction Companies out of work?? Next, lets go after Surgeons or maybe we take a step back and see that a preson did these actions. Should we go after the Doctors who didn't see this comming or mabe the Family members and Friends too? Next, go after Sticks and String?
