Ok, as Gordy says; If it comes from Cabela's it aint cheap. This beauty retails for $89.99 and a 4.7 of 5 rating from 15 commenters. I agree, just about anything that carries the Cabela's label is neither cheap or cheaply made. As the old saying goes, "You get what ya pay for". Whoever came up with the concept of handsfree lighting is a genius. So, light me up Gordy and make me a happy camper.

I was just at Cabelas on Monday and they had a demo table set up with the same head lamp. It is VERY bright and should have a much longer battery life over the current head lamp I use, that only has three AAA batteries in it. It is a little pricy compared to what I paid for my Petzel, but if your trying to get an animal out of the woods after the sun goes down it would be well worth the price. As Jonnyt623 said, it seems to be very well made and Cabelas backs up what they sell.

im an avid hunter and this would be great to have and use for getting in the woods earley. i am also a volinteer fire fighter and this would fit great on my fire hat for whene i hafta go into a burning smoke infested house to retrive victoms or save a life from an enferno of smoke or fire.even if not chosen im gona look in to these lights for our department it would be very handy instead of having to cary a flash light it would free up our hands to do more and help our department.they seem very bright also.

The Family and I have been going too Gander Mountain,and Academy for our camo and weapons.I would like too have this for bow fishing,trapping,and coon hunting.I do all these things and I have a hands free head lamp.But,This seems too have a good distance.When I go coon hunting I have my buddies hold The spot light cause my head lamp doesn't produce enough light..

I have been using Cabelas products for some time and found them to be durable and a lasting product. I enjoy going to Cabelas and checking the available products sitting out the displays you can actually get a look at without first purchasing the product!! Alan summers

I"m a member of Foothills Search & Rescue in Alberta Canada and we are always looking for a great light. We use lights year around not just during hunting season. I could put one of these lights to a good test and as mentioned in the other comments, Cabela have great products.

climbing in the tree stand would be alot easier with a free hand.and being able too see at dawn

I have a cheapie headlamp which works fine for home repairs in confined spaces, but doesn't throw nearly enough light far enough for outdoor use. This would great for predawn approaches to the blind or getting back to the house after sundown.

WOW once you opened that up i was so so happy i been looking for a great head light for coon and walking out of deer hunting at night you know as well as i know that those $3 dollor ones dont work but im only 14 and i cant buy a good one because i cant spend my moeny like that even though i would like to so ya nice light though.

As of yet I don't have a headlamp.still trying to hold the old mini mag in my mouth not cool.when I think about getting a head lamp is when. I need it would love to win one than I'd have no excuse right Esther way its an awesome looking product and one day I will remember to get one.

Looks like a good little lamp. I went duck hunting the other day. We were going down the river with no lights whatsoever haha. One of these head lamps probably would have came in handy. I learned my lesson. Next time i will make sure to pack some kind of light. Great review, keep em coming. I like the gear that allows me to be hands free. I use alot of head lamps that break easily when I am using them. Since I am a hunter and in the Marine Corps, I take my flashlights in the field for hunting and also for work. I have gone through about 13 differrent brands of headlamps and still have yet to find one that can withstand the abuse I put them through. I know Cabela's make great products but the question for me is just how tuff is this headlamp? I would love to test out one just to see if it can go through the abuse that I can put it through.

The green would be perfect for walking in pre-dawn, and regular would be great for gutting after dusk.So, perfect Dusk to Dawn hunting aid!!Love to try it for Free!!

I hunt quite a bit, don't currentlyhave a headlamp so hafta wait till daybreak to get in the woods, I have multiple sclerosis so trip very easily, this would be a tremendous help in seeing where my feet are

Just looking at the video and the product on their website, it looks like a very sturdy good product that should last a lifetime. By the way, when can i get a job at the hunting club, i have to practice in the dark this time of year, staying in shape and keep up up the muscle memory at work would be SWEET!

Cabela's Alaskan Guide XP Headlamp is a great addition to the list of hunting accessories. Great features are four light intensities and the green light option which according to the Customer Reviews is light that (at least some) animals cannot see. (The story in Customer Reviews about the bow hunters who walked upon a herd of bedded-down elk is especially interesting as they just sat down and waited for daylight.) Thus if one approaches their deer blind using the green light they are less likely to alarm animals in the area. This light is obviously great for hands free walking while carrying gun(s) and equipment at night and using the wide angle option is an excellent feature that enhances the view without sacrificing visibility. (My walking "abilities" require that I use a cane for safety.) The safety flasher option is a very valuable asset in emergencies.

Ok, ok, I say this every time, how durable is it? Can it hold up to the beating I give my equipment? I go through outdoor gear so fast sometimes, sit on it , drop it, get it wet. LOOSE IT. Anyway I'm always looking for gear that is stronger, and will take me farther. Good luck

GORDY; Being a veteran an retired my eyes don't see as well as they should. It would be a welcome friend with many more uses then just hunting application. Changing a flat tire at night ect. Reting a leader on when night fishing. A sportsman

It seems like a great lamp, it may not be necessary to get such an expensive lamp unless it is really needed. I have a cheaper LED lamp that cost me $25 and it works great but i would assume the battery life of mine is not as long. If you are going to be using yours often and being tough on it, it may be worth it to spend the money. Great product!

Hey guys. I tried out the XP's baby brother, the QUL Headlamp this past weekend when I was deer hunting up north with the family. Nice light and a lot less expensive than the XP. Both are made by Princeton Tec. I was just on Cabela's website and they have them on sale for $22.99.

Appears to be another fine product from Cabelas. I think the newer LED lamps would be more useful than my current light. I use my old AAA powered headlamp for everything from hunting, fishing, camping, remodeling and vehicle maintenance. The days of a flashlight stuck in your mouth so you can have your hands free are gone.

That would be handy.

You lose one nice high value flashlight into a drop toilet while camping and you will never go again without a headlamp.

I have a hands free light now but is no way as nice as this one. love the Cabelas hands free light. you no its good and very well made when they make something its done right.Would love to have one like this for my hunting in the eve nights where i need light and one you can trust.

It looks bulky I have one from the days when I worked and it is does a great job. Love the Cabelas brand but not sure about this item. Sorry

This would be perfect for my first elk hunting trip in Idaho. Hopefully it's light weight.
