The predatory ability to extend the range of our eyesight and discover prey from afar is invaluable, so a binocular is priceless. A binocular is often the first tool that leads a hunter to a successful kill. But the added weight and hang-ups from a bino can make it a burdensome hunting tool.
The typical neck strap that comes with a binocular offers little support and is basically worthless for hunters. Some other binocular harnesses that wrap around the shoulders aren't so bad, but they're still lacking in comfort and containment. The S4Gear LockDownX is the ultimate binocular harness.
From the source: “The S4Gear team strives to develop cutting-edge products that serve a useful purpose and embody superior quality. Prior to the LockDown, there wasn’t a binocular harness on the market that could stand up to what hunters really need in the field. The success of the LockDown was incredible, but we didn’t stop there. We listened to feedback from the hunting community and followed up with the LockDownX, which captures the same great concept as the original LockDown and incorporates even more of what hunters are looking for. –Teri Quinn, S4Gear
I started using the LockDownX early this fall with my Swarovski EL 10X42mm binocular. The harness is completely adjustable and offers support in every place that matters. Its material is extremely lightweight and quiet, yet durable. The binocular is housed in a moldable aluminum-frame holder (covered by fabric) that offers full lens protection. The LockDownX keeps a binocular comfortably tight to your chest, allowing you to crawl without ground drag and reduce annoying snags. Once removed, the binocular is held by stretchy "ShockCord Security Straps," offering added stability for glassing and allowing you to drop the bino for quick action if needed.
The LockDownX is worth every penny of the $54.99 price tag. It comes in black/gray or black/Realtree AP for an additional $10.

The S4Gear LockDownX gets my Gear Nod of approval.
