By: Melissa Bachman

Hunting black bears on the ground is challenging and unnerving. This week on Winchester's Deadly Passion I head to Prince of Wales Island in Alaska to go eye-to-eye with big black bears. Watch the preview to see what's in store.

seriously, why would anyone in there right state of mind want to be face to face with a large bear.I trust my bow and have confidence in my placement skills but I have seen bears with my own two eyes that were shoot with rifles and still ran 100 plus yards so ot is hard for me to understand why someone would like to be so close with no cover..

I have seen a video of a bear shot from the ground that when he was hit he ran and fell about 10 feet from when the man was that shot him. If the bear had not Fallen where he did the man that shot him would have most likely have had a really bad day... Im not shooting a bear from the grould unless he is over 300 yards out and Im Using a 30-06 or bigger riffle. Bear spray will only work on a noninjured bear and it will only work once.. I want no Part of Shooting a bear from the Ground with a Bow.. It aint Gonna Happen.

I'm All for it myself. Big Kudo's to you Melissa. Wish I could be there next to ya with my bow too. AS FOR THE OTHER 2 Comments:Its all about the adrenalin rush. As an Avid Archery hunter myself. My first bull elk encounter in late August during the rut. well writting this makes my neck hair stand up and chills fill my spine. So until you exsperience it or try it you will never know Why we true Archers do what we do.
