Country music star Kip Moore is right: There's "Somethin' 'Bout A Truck."

And you need to get your truck in shape for hunting season. One of the best ways is to clean it up before you begin living in it.

During hunting season I live in my Ford F-150, literally. I drive nonstop between hunting trips. I dress in it. I eat in it. I sleep in it. I visit restrooms and trees for the obvious. During the course of a year, my truck gets dirty, inside and out. For the inside I rely on a Hefty garbage bag to get rid of any leftover Subway wrappers and my Mi-T-M 13-gallon wet/dry vacuum.

I power wash the outside of my Ford with another Mi-T-M product—a cold-water, gasoline-powered pressure washer. It cleans the outside and the motor housing off with ease, and you should see what it can do to a deer skull that needs the flesh removed from it using a rotating nozzle. More on that to come in a future blog post about trophy preparation.

For now, here are a few reasons to get your truck clean and ready for the hunting season:

Organization. Cleaning helps get the inside of your truck organized so you can stow equipment efficiently and find gear quickly. If you have your fishing gear tucked in the backseat from summer trips, it’s taking up space better utilized by hunting equipment.

Resale. Washing the road grime, salt and gravel from underneath your truck keeps it from rusting away. The road I live on is coated with a salt-heavy concoction to reduce dust. It rusts exposed metal in minutes so I pressure wash my truck and trailers on a regular basis.

Trouble. A clean truck means you can spot leaks, spills and burns with ease. Trucks spring leaks like little babies, so if you want to stay on top of the health of your truck, wash it to spot telltale signs immediately.

Professionalism. As hunters we're always under the scrutiny of the public, so it helps every hunter if you keep your truck clean. Sure, your truck will get muddy, but it doesn’t need to stay that way 365 days out of the year. More importantly, wash the blood off of the tailgate and bumper. Keep it clean to keep the respect.
