'My Take': Maintain Scent Control While Bowhunting

By: Melissa Bachman

It's Tip Tuesday on "My Take," and today I'm sharing a few ideas for how you can control your scent when you're out in the field. Of course, playing the wind is important, but there are times when some extra scent control can truly make a big difference on a hunt.

I completely agree With Melissa On this topic! But I also feel that you can over protect yourself. I hunt in Scottland County Missouri with a couple of friends on 160 acres we own. I wash all of my hunting gear with scent killer and spray down before every hunt. NO scent block or scent lock clothing at all. and have only ever had one deer dtect my presence. The other 2 guys however, have all the latest and greatest scent lock and scent block stuff on the market and continually come back with stories of deer that have caught wind of them up in the tree...coincidence or just sheer luck on my part? I have no idea but I DO know that I wont be Buying some over priced hunting clothes ;)

Also got to rember to use what products your scent clothing manufacture recomendations. Some products can actully conteract with each other to make any attempt you try to mask your scent null and void. not to mention ruin your scent garments and your wallet.
