Soldier Almost Loses His Head

Need proof that it’s vital to control the muzzle of any firearm? Check out what happens in the video below when a soldier in the back row inadvertently points his rifle at a fellow soldier’s head during a military ceremony. Not good.

I don’t know this to be a fact, but I’m sure these soldiers were firing blank cartridges, which are often used to provide the flash and sound of live ammunition, without the danger of real bullets. That said, at very close range, blanks can still be dangerous. (FYI: Blanks contain powder and primer but have a piece of paper wadding as their bullet/projectile. The wadding keeps the powder in place.)

With turkey season getting started across much of the country, I’m asking you to be safe with your shotgun. Control the muzzle and positively identify your target before pulling the trigger.

Because you won’t be firing blanks.

Until next time ...
