This week I head to the Gila in New Mexico in search of a giant bull elk with my muzzleloader.

by the way, did you miss on the first shot or just take a second shot to make sure you got a good penetrating kill shot?

It was a perfect shot the first time, but if an animal is still standing I am a firm believer in putting one more in him and that's what I did in this case. He would have gone down momentarily from the first shot, but I decided one more shot wouldn't hurt.
