Supreme Court Justices And Hunting

In recent years it’s been proven through dozens of youth hunting programs across the country that mentoring is an effective and successful method of introducing new hunters and firearms users to a lifetime of enjoyment in the outdoors.

But can the proper mentoring change someone with a life-long history of decidedly anti-firearm politics and philosophies into a person who respects hunting and embraces the fundamentals of the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution?

Well, maybe if the mentor is avid hunter and conservative U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

After a busy week of hearing arguments regarding the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the members of the U.S. Supreme Court are taking a well-earned break leading up to the Easter holiday weekend.

While visiting Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, April 3, Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan spoke briefly about being mentored by Justice Scalia on pheasant- and quail-hunting trips, as well as their plans for future excursions for big game in the western United States.

Yes, this is the same Obama-appointed Justice who admitted having no experience with firearms before being named to the highest court in the land. Almost miraculously, this week she told the 240 students gathered at the Catholic and Jesuit university that she now views hunting as “really good fun.”

“He made a huntress out of me,” she said of her Supreme Court peer and hunting mentor.

According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Justice Kagan went on to say she and Scalia were planning a big-game hunt in a western state later in 2012.

“He insists I'm going to shoot myself an antelope,” she said.

It’s enough to make you want to run right out and introduce someone new to the joys of hunting and shooting, isn’t it?

Just don’t forget to thank Justice Scalia.

Its really nice to hear of an appointed justice who discovered why we value hunting and the enjoyments that come along with this.Having more positive views is a great thing today for hunting and the second ammendment.Thankyou for taking your personal time to appreciate all of these things.

I would not believe or trust anything she said or does until I see her actions. I think it such a shame to all of us N.R.A. members that there are more girl scout members then there are paying members of the N.R.A. Just remember if Obama is reelected there will be 2 or 3 new justices appt. in his 4 year term. I wonder how that will effect any vote on gun bills that go to the Supeme Court.

SAM CHEMA you nailed it! Listen to what is said then watch what is done.Trust must be earned. So far this paying N.R.A. member hasn't seen anything that has sold me on either of the two new justices. Will she take a stand against the UN Small Arms Treaty?

It will really be great, if it is true. Would be extremely useful for our cause to have another SCOTUS member that would give gun owners and hunters a fair hearing.

SAM CHEMA... Bingo..! As I read this article my little "top floor" committee was screaming..CAREFUL Watch THIS ONE !!!! These die-hard libs will say or do ANYTHING to keep people off guard and take their eyes off of the goings-on in Washington so they can: like the snakes in the grass that they are: proceed with their personal agendas and screw us royally. If it turns out to be true Wonderful but it seems just a little too convenient to me. We'll see I guess but my money is on .....it's a ploy

Yeah, we just believe in republicans because we all know they never fib! I get a kick out of all of them when I see them in their brand new hunting outfits at election time.
