I'm completely wound up! This will be my first year going on multiple turkey hunts, and I’m pumped beyond belief. At the end of  the month I’ll be heading down to Texas, and later this spring I’ll be off for my yearly Minnesota hunt. 

Needless to say, I have turkey on my brain, and it isn’t going away any time soon. Over the last 4 years I’ve discovered a few ways to help me cope with my mind-spinning turkey excitement. 

The first thing I do is practice calling in the car on the way to work—with my diaphragm call of course. Next, I like to purchase one new item, big or small––it doesn’t really matter because it takes my mind off of the upcoming hunt. It also gives me something else to look forward to for the upcoming season. Last, I head out to my turkey stomping grounds and scout. The more time I log in the woods, the better.

On the flip side, there are a couple things I need to avoid before my turkey seasons start. One is watching any turkey hunting videos—all they seem to do is make me more anxious to get out in the field and thump some wild poultry. Two: seeing live birds; I have to look away because it completely drives me nuts.    

Seeing that my blog is focused on social media, I'll throw a spin on this post that will make our Web editor a happy camper. I have some of tasks for you to accomplish:

-Leave a comment and tell me how you cope with the excitement of upcoming hunts, and the things you need to avoid.

-Find any turkey-hunting related giveaways or contests on websites or within social media channels and tell me about them, either by leaving a comment or sending an e-mail (make sure you include the link).

-Send me a story from one of your spring turkey hunts. I’ll pick some of my favorites and post them in my blog; don’t forget to include a few photos.
