Turkey Beheads $500 Decoy

Do you remember your first turkey? Of course you do. Was the hunt filmed? Maybe, but probably not.

One hunter who does have an incredible video of his first turkey kill is a youngster by the name of Tray from Tennessee. Not only does the gobbler in this clip rip the head off an expensive full-strut deke, but what happens after that is too good for words—just watch and enjoy.

Until next time . . .

P.S. If you’ve been absent-minded lately and failed to check my weekly blog, you’ve missed some other killer videos, including a 76-inch-wide moose arrowed at 8 feet.

So i guess my question is why didn't they shoot the turkey before it took the head off ? Answer they wanted to get there five minutes of fame.

I agree. Also, I've noticed more and more that turkey hunters place their deke close to 25+ yards away from where their blind is. In most of these videos, I see misses and/or needing a second shot (like this video). Why do turkey hunters set up their decoys at such a distance? Is it "fear" of the turkey not wanting to come close enough? I haven't been turkey hunting long...only 4 years...but I've gotten a bird every year and I only set up my dekes (a jake and hen) 10 yrds - 15yrds max. I've had NO problem calling in birds to that range. I don't even use a blind...just find a nice tree to sit against. any thoughts?

That is an expensive decoy, I would shoot him on principal just for jacking with it!

It is always good to see how longbeards react to anykind of decoy. Thanks for posting!! However, I do believe the shooter better get a little more practice in. He was extremly lucky to get that second shot. Any other bird would have run off after the first shot!!
