Last year I finally stepped up my game and left my raggedy, old, discolored turkey decoys at home. With so many high-definition, high-quality options out there nowadays, I decided to ditch my Amish approach and get with the times.
As you might imagine, working alongside other analytical, critical, die-hard hunters/editors means daily debates about the "best" new hunting gear. We don't always agree. The guys around the NAH office are quite particular about their gear, and turkey decoys are no exception. But when Zink Calls' Avian-X decoys were released, the group consensus was clear: They're killer. Realistic details. Easy to carry. Boom. Done deal. My upgrade was chosen.
Know what else Zink does well? Produce hunting vids. Their "Turkey Time" DVDs will get any remotely serious turkey hunter all hot and bothered. I contacted producer/musician/turkey-fiend Walt Gabbard from Zink to score some exclusive, extended footage from their latest head-bustin' montage, "Turkey Time 4." Low and behold, it features their prototype Avian-X Quarter Strut Jake decoy getting its rear end whooped by a pissed-off Ontario tom while it was still in a "testing phase" last year. Check it out below. If you feel obliged to thank me for scoring this fist-pumping footage, feel free to leave a comment.
