T.G.I.H!: Black Bear Hunt With Predator Call

By: Melissa Bachman

Feb 17

Thank God I'm Hunting (T.G.I.H!)! Fridays are designated as hunt days on "My Take," and this week I'll take you to southeast Alaska where I call in a giant black bear with a predator call. This is one of the most intense bowhunts you will ever see captured on film, as the big bruin charges in from 150 yards!

That was awesome. I am going to try using a predator call this fall hunting black bear. We will see how it goes.
I do have one question. Where did you hit him? That was an amazing amount of blood. So much for bears not leaving a good blood trail. Too bad it isn’t like that every time.
Thanks for sharing the video.

When you're calling in bear you very rarely will be presented with a broadside shot because a mature bear has no intentions of backing down on a meal. With this said I like my shots in close so I can make a good throat shot. It is one of the quickest and most lethal shots out there, but it has a small margin of error so you want the bear in close. I've taken two black bears in the throat and both went down in under 50-yards with a huge blood trail.
