In my November 29 blog post, I broke out of my heavy-metal-loving skin and admitted I'm a big fan of Jason Aldean's country tunes. As promised, I chatted with Aldean, gave you all the opportunity to ask him a question and made it into a friendly contest. I picked my favorite question, Aldean spilled his beans and one lucky NAHC Member scored a claim to fame.
Congratulations to NAHC Member Dustin Jones from Ohio for submitting the winning question! He won a copy of Aldean's "My Kinda Party" album, glory in the NAHC spotlight, and a lifelong connection to one of country music's biggest artists of all time.
OK, OK—I'll reveal the question and answer ...
Jones: What's the biggest whitetail you've ever harvested?
Aldean: You talkin’ rack or body? The biggest rack score deer I ever shot was in Texas, and it was last year. He scored just under 160—he was like a 156, 157. That was the biggest rack score. The biggest bodied deer I ever shot was actually one I just killed in Missouri about 2 weeks ago. His rack wasn’t all that great—he was a 10-point—but he was just a heavy, heavy deer … at least for me. I’m from Georgia, man, so you’re talkin’ something that’s 230, 250 [pounds]. I mean, that’s a beast for us! This deer was probably in the 220-230 range, and that was the biggest bodied deer I ever shot.
