Oliso, a California-based company that produces all sorts of cool gadgetry, is jumping head-first into the outdoor market with their Outdoor Series Oliso PRO VS97A Vacuum Sealer.

I first saw the Oliso Outdoor Series Vacuum Sealer earlier this year at an outdoor media event in Illinois. I interviewed Shann Culo, Oliso's national sales manager, and she demonstrated the product. Here's the video (blog post continued below):

Some hunters want nothing to do with processing their own wild game. I'm not one of those hunters. For me, game care is all part of the hunting experience. I enjoy it, and frankly I don't like others messing with my meat. I rely on my frozen flesh harvest to get me through the year, and an air-tight package is essential for long-term storage. I love vacuum sealers, so when I had the opportunity to get my hands on Oliso's Outdoor Series Vacuum Sealer, I was all about it.

Unlike other vacuum sealers, Oliso's uses their unique Dual Seal Freshkeeper Technology. You can read all about the technical specs on the Oliso website. I'm here to share my opinion and personal experience with the product.

Bottom line: I dig it—a lot. It works smoothly, quickly and creates an excellent seal for food (moist or dry), or gear that you want to keep dry. The unit and all necessary accessories come in a hard case with a handle, which is perfect for the traveling sportsman. Speaking of travel, it comes with a 12-foot power adapter so you can plug it into your vehicle's cigarette lighter to package game in the field. The bags are reusable, and they're easy to open because of their Vac-Snap design.

I shot a whitetail (doe) last weekend, so I put the Oliso Outdoor Series Vacuum Sealer to work. Here are a series of photos showing the unboxing and use of the product:

The Outdoor Series Oliso PRO VS97A Vacuum Sealer retails for $199.99. If you want one, go directly to the Oliso website.

Here's to properly preserving fresh flesh for future feasts. Do it right and you'll thank yourself with each forkful.
