Have you ever wondered what 200 yards looks like underground? I hadn't ... until I got the chance to visit the Federal Premium Ammunition factory. The NAHC editorial crew was invited there for a special tour. We saw lots of cool things, such as how shotgun shells and bullets are made. I learned a ton about ammunition, and have a new-found respect for each and every cartridge I fire.

As part of the tour we were able to sneak a look at some of the testing facilities on the Federal campus. The path to the facilities started as a quick jaunt down a few stairs. Then we went through what seemed like a maze of hallways and tunnels, only to end up at one of the highlights of our tour: a 200-yard underground shooting range they use for ammo testing.

For me, 200 yards is a long distance above ground (I've never shot at a game animal beyond 175 yards). But as I peered down Federal's artificially lit underground tunnel, 200 yards looked farther than ever.

It gets even better. We showed up at the perfect time and had the chance to see some military rounds being tested for accuracy—and I was allowed to shoot some video to share with you.
