Also sorry to hear about the dadf. Thanx for all the info everyone....I think that if I should get a buck this year, I will prolly have the entire head mounted. And Yeti, deer jerky sounds good to me. I don't have a dehydrator tho. Since this is my first year, I will prolly just take it somewhere to get it processed. How would you guys suggest I have it cut up....I really have no clue. I will also talk to my father about it, since he was around when my family had a butcher shop & worked there....plus, he has been hunting for about 30+ years. (tho never has gotten a deer....which i give him **** about all the time x

Hey All- my feelings for ya dadf. Boy, wish we can break this heat/humidity wave, but it does make a good excuse for a cold one. What's your brand? Mine's in the import section, Leinekugel's, imported from Wisconsin. (That's where you'll find them in some of the bigger stores in Lafayette-HAHA)-no joke. Seems as though everyone's out to comfuse the world, that's why I go out and HUNT & FISH!! Hey Blue- I'm sure you can make jerky other than with a dehydrator, use you reg oven on lowest setting, might check around for recipies on the net or on some of the jerky packages at the store.

Got a sea of yellow back there right now Kind of funny though-the bride, mom and one of the brides maids were out here last Sat-now they're getting worried about all the bees Hopefully they'll have enough time to mature before all the dove seasons are over.

Good Morning All! Didn't have to worry about burning the chicken...it poured on us Sat AM. We had everything set up and had started about 25 bags of charcoal, had a couple hundred halves just on and we got hit with about 2" of rain in 45 min Got ahold of everyone I knew that had hog cookers and hauled 'em in and started everything over. Cooked in the cookers until we could dig trenches and drain the pits. made a quick run to Wally for another 30 bags of charcoal and away we went. Usually takes about 3 hours over the open pits for a rack of chicken but we were cranking them out in about 2 1/2. Still got them done and never had people waiting for them to get finished. Haven't heard yet final #'s yet but had to have served over 1000, that's down a little bit but I think the weather may have had some affect on the attendance. Quik-did you have you shindig yet?

I cookin' if your flying. Let me know when you are leaving and I'll have the pit stoked and smoking. Dove season opens Sat am. Exotics are always in season as are the pigs. Besides I have a "LITTLE" fencing project getting restarted. What time did you say you were delivering the laborers? What about coffeeman and Chuch44mag. Can't work Bill to hard, we'll designate him as the wait staff. He will be serving water or TX water. Both served ice cold.
