i got a 7 month old Redtick Coonhound/Beagle mix ive had her since she was around 3 months old she is housebroken , she knows basic commands sit, speak and thats it, but when you get her out in the field she knows how to use her nose. My question is she will find coons fairly quick and stand at base of the tree, she is about 3ft long just body not including neck and tail and stands about 24 inches tall, can she hunt rabbits because i got a couple to try and train her but she would rather run coons. I had a mess of coons in the colbert behind my house and she went right to it and started howling and went over and sure enough there was a big momma coon and 4 babies. So what all kind of training can i do to get her runing rabbits i let them out in my huge outdoor pin for rabbits and leave 1 or 2 in there and let her run she will sniff around but wont chase or bark at rabbits she would rather run coons. How can i get this dog to hunt both coons and rabbits because to be honest if shes with my buddies coon hounds she runs with them when its just me and her you have to just about walk right into a trail before she gets it and if you could just give me some useful tips on how to train her a little more basicly i got her as a rescue her previous owner turned her over because she wouldnt hunt like he had wished had her vet record and everything he didnt have the patients to try and help her so i took over and he got mad shes actually got a coon bite mark on her ear where it took a chunk of it out. But please let me know whats a good tips on how to train her a little better and get her ready to begin runing more than just when my buddies dogs run. All tips and suggestions will work and are much appreciated in advance Brandon Bowling-NAHC Member,KY Whitetail Hunter,2009 KY Elk Hunter, and proud father of 2 daughters and a son,and proud owner of two amazing hunting dogs

Brandon , give me a break with these mixes you keep coming up with!!! I'm gonna start thinjing you are from WV instead of KY! I presume the male was a Red Tick since a beagle would have trouble otherwise.... If the cross was good , two legs, hopefully on same side, shud be longer than otherside letting the dawg run around KY hillsides fast enuff to catch a coon.... oh ya my redtick coonhound/beagle mix all her legs are same length like i said shes 7 months old 3 ft long not including tail and neck and stands 24 inches at shoulder! she is very quick and and loves to put her nose to the ground and go! Also i would say she weighs about 25-30lbs! She is very shorthaired but doesnt get in the way of her goin into briar patches and thick brush piles! but anyone know some good techniques to get her to run rabbits as well as coons. I put her in my 40ftx30ftx5ft rabbit pin with 1 or 2 rabbits in there and she has no interests what so ever!!! any suggestions will help and thanks in advance!!!! Hares seem to have stronger scent, and the size of this dog would be a plus for hares.
